Acentrophorus glaphyrus ist die geologisch älteste Art der Gattung Acentrophorus. Mit einer Länge von ca. fünf Zentimetern ist dieses Fossil ein typischer Vertreter seiner Art im frühen Zechsteinmeer, zum Ende des Perm wurde der kleine Knochenganoid etwas größer - die Durchschnittsgröße wuchs auf ca. acht Zentimeter an.
